Deseret Ranches Of Florida

One of Wedgefield’s closest neighbors is Deseret Ranches. xxx

Deseret Ranches are the ranching operations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Central Florida.

The Ranches include several organizations: Deseret Ranches of Florida, Deseret Cattle and Citrus, Taylor Creek Management, East Central Florida Services, AgReserves, and Farmland Reserve.

According to the Deseret website, “For more than 70 years we have farmed and ranched this beautiful landscape. With a focus on raising high-quality calves and increasing the productive capacity of the land, we are proud to carry on Florida’s ranching heritage. We are also proud to take care of the natural resources found here and the many species of wildlife that share the landscape with us. Our seven decades of experience give us a unique perspective as we plan for the future, ensuring that Central Florida remains a great place to call home.

All told, the Ranch is composed of about 295,000 acres, or 450 square miles, stretching across Orange, Osceola, and Brevard counties…

In 2014, Deseret entered into an agreement with Suburban Land Reserve, Inc. (SLR), a taxable investment affiliate of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the sale of the Northeast District in Osceola County and other lands in Orange County. SLR partnered with the Tavistock Development Company to include the Northeast District in Tavistock’s Sunbridge master-planned community.
